2007 the year for energy security

THE YEAR 2007 is set to be a watershed period for southern Africa as it marks the dawn of a potential energy crisis. With some of Africa’s fastest expanding economies, the SADC region has been projected to run out of surplus generation capacity in 2007.
The SADC economy has grown steadily over the past decade with an estimated six percent growth rate in 2006 on the back of strong performances by a number of countries, including Angola and Mozambique.
